Secal has recently added Pad Printing to their growing list of in-house services. After speaking to Stefan Parkes, Quality Manager at Secal, I discovered more about the new machine and how it will benefit Secal.
The new machine is a PE-8C Single Colour Pad Print Machine, the printer was purchased to bring another previously subcontracted operation in-house, giving Secal better lead times, repeatable quality and eliminating the risk of damage from shipping painted parts to subcontractors. The chosen machine is great value for money as well as being simple to use, and as the machine has a small footprint, space was not an issue. Although the machine is compact all Secal’s requirements were met, it is also low on consumables with excellent quality.
On time supplier delivery is an absolute must for Secal to meet customer requirements. Deadlines and schedules are extremely tight with very narrow margin of error, issues surrounding supply prompted investigation into bringing the printing operation in house.
Expectations were for a high standard of print application, produced in a timely manner with low maintenance. The printer was expected to be easy to use to ensure consistent results, Secal can then control the operation to produce many more parts within an hour, saving time and improving service. The Pad Printer will enhance flexibility, and the additional manufacturing process is incorporated under Secal’s management system and controls, with potential opportunities as an increase in scope of manufacturing.
Overall, so far Secal are happy with the new machine and are looking forward to the opportunities that will arise from having the service in house.
